Week 16
GRAMMAR
This week, the students reviewed the traits and jobs of nouns and were introduced to the S-Vt-DO-OCN pattern. Since they were already familiar with S-Vl-PN, they can use this to compare to the new pattern. Both Object Complement Noun and Predicate Nominative will always be nouns and they will always be renaming another noun. The distinction lies in what word they are remaning. While PN will always rename the subject, OCN will always rename the Direct Object. Also, PN have to be used with linking verbs, as in Mary is a girl. OCN is located directly after the DO, as in We elected Mary President. Tasks

The topic for the week is Apples. We discussed several topics related to Apples (kinds of Apples, how apple pie is made, Apple desserts, regional apples, Johnny Appleseed, etc). Next week the students will extend this assignment by learning to create introductions and conclusions. Tasks
